I've listed the lyrics and the footage I'm expecting to accompany them with, all revisions have been written in brackets next to the crossed out previous idea. Some ideas are in brackets because I'm not certain that I want to keep them, or they haven't been finalised yet.
The Bomb Song
Darwin Deez
- focus on aftermath, rather than on disaster -
Opening Shot: Ambient noise, slow fade in from black to mushroom cloud, radio crackle, voice over report about bomb explosion, (fade out to black again?)
The sky is green
> Green coloured effect on sky, pan down to ??
it's been that way since they dropped the bomb,
> News report two months since bomb, war has ended, (like Hiroshima?)
the clouds are brown
> effects on sky? (Interesting) deserted location, beach?
the city's a ghost town,
> Empty city streets, radioactive warning labels/signs
the city is dead.
> graves/mourning?
The river's a bed now
> effect on Yarra river, to appear empty/destroyed? Scummy riverside
The hair on my head came out,
> "Warning! Radiation" signs, with information about health/safety, Fallout (the videogame) style?
it fell on the ground
> Flashback, mushroom cloud, hair falling out, main female in house/hospital
none of the sun light is safe
> light filtering through trees in park, looks scenic but eerie, deserted. (Rubbish/evidence of picnics or park activities to add to eeriness?)
litter is blowing all around the side walk.
>rubbish on empty street?
Say you love me now,
>
maybe you will say you love me now,
>
say you love me ,
>
please,
>
say it now
>
that the sky is green.
> Pan up from previous shot to green sky, used as transition to next shot
It's been that since we lost the war
>
we looted the store,
>
we had to eat something,
>
the people are sick.
> hospital?
the water is strychnine
> muddy water in drinkbottle?
I heard about sixty-nine hundred, people have died
>TV report
the shelter is hell,
> More TV footage of refugees, or flashback of girl being in refugee shelter
smells like shit,
> Continuation of above shot
no body knows how long we're s'posed to stay in it.
> riots? People arguing in Shelter (if flashback) with dialogue silent, maybe subtitles
Say you love me now,
> wall of photos, those who have passed, flowers under,
maybe you will say you love me now,
say you love me ,
please,
say it now
that the sky is green.
the sky is green.
>Bombs falling/planes flying over city
the sky is green.
> People huddle under table, hold hands
the sky is green.
> Mother clutching child/family
the sky is green.
>Politician being attacked?/being upset
the sky is green.
the sky is green.
the sky is green.
Say you love me now,
maybe you will say you love me now,
say you love me ,
please,
say it now
that the sky is green.
